Bain Wilson
Assistant Professor, Professional Practice and Livestock Judging Coach

Dr. Bain Wilson knows the effect working with animals can have on a young person's life. Growing up in south central North Carolina, he developed an interest in Animal Science through his involvement livestock judging for 4-H and FFA. Now he's turned that passion into a career as a teacher, professor, and coach of the Ohio State livestock judging team.

With the new Waterman Multispecies Animal Learning Center, Wilson will be able to offer his students more access to animals, right on campus.

"Having this on campus and in the heart of the city, it's an opportunity to showcase what we do in the livestock industry," he said. "This new facility will allow us to have all of our species on campus. It's going to streamline labs and really increase the educational opportunities."

Wilson also sees the new center as a potential recruitment tool, drawing top students from farming communities who are interested in learning and research at a high level. Thanks to his work with youth outreach, he knows the cutting-edge facility will help the college shine.

"I hear a lot of people say they want the ag program to be as prominent as the football team," he said. "This is going to help us do that."
