We are grateful for the enthusiasm and excitement surrounding the opening of the MALC. At this time, we are not offering tours for the general public or school groups. Thank you for your continued support and interest as we move into the next phase of the MALC. Updates will be posted here when we begin offering tours.

Dairy production goes high tech at Waterman. As part of the Multispecies Animal Learning Center now under construction, a new cutting-edge small-scale dairy for 60 Jersey dairy cows will open in 2025. 

 

Innovating Dairy Education and Research

This modern, fully autonomous dairy will not only revolutionize how we teach and study dairy farming but also serve as a model for sustainable and technologically advanced agriculture.

  • State-of-the-art technology: Robotic milking, feeding, and manure management systems offer students hands-on experience with innovative agricultural tech, streamlining operations while boosting animal welfare and productivity.
  • Educational Excellence: Designed for teaching, research, and Extension programs in dairy science, the facility enhances interdisciplinary learning opportunities and fosters collaboration in animal sciences.
  • Research Potential: Capacity to house 16 cows separately for small research trials focused on feed efficiency and milk yield supports our commitment to high-quality dairy research.
  • Youth and Public Engagement: Public viewing areas and interactive educational displays offer a transparent look into modern dairy production.
