International EcoSummit Features Waterman Farm Two-Stage Ditch

Waterman Farm was a featured stop for the International Ecosummit field tour on stream restoration practices in October 2012. Dr. Andy Ward led the Waterman portion of the tour explaining the benefits of two-stage ditches. Dr. Jonathan Witter presented the benefits of a self-forming channel design. Dr. Jessica D’Ambrosio co-led tour, in collaboration with Kyle Wilson from Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District, helping answer questions for participants and in representing the The Ohio State University and the two-stage ditch design. The tour was attended by 21 participants from 5 different countries.

Dr. Jessica D’Ambrosio also was an invited speaker at the International EcoSummit conference. Jessica’s 25-minute presentation was on the ecosystem services of constructed two-stage agricultural drainage ditches. Waterman Farm was highlighted as a successfully implemented project with multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional collaborators. Nearly 40 participants attended the presentation.
